As a Registered Dietitian, it’s my personal mission to help you get more fiber in your diet. This creamy high fiber fruit smoothie is the easiest way to do so, with 12 grams of fiber from whole food sources including chia seeds, frozen mixed berries, and banana. It also has 19 grams of protein – the protein + fiber combo is so filling!

This high fiber breakfast recipe has my two favorite high fiber ingredients for smoothies: berries and chia seeds. Together with banana, Greek yogurt, and soy milk, these simple ingredients make for a thick, creamy, and delicious breakfast smoothie.

If you’ve never had a chia seed smoothie before, fear not. They blend up completely with the other ingredients, do not alter the flavor, AND help make the smoothie extra thick with a milkshake texture. These little seeds add 5 grams of fiber to this recipe, so they’re not to be skipped.

A few quick ingredient notes:

  • Soy milk: I opted for unsweetened soy milk because it provides an additional 1 gram of fiber to this smoothie. I’ve tested this recipe with regular cow’s milk and you cannot tell the difference between the two, flavor-wise.
  • Frozen mixed berries: I recommend using a three berry blend of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries (without strawberries) for the biggest fiber boost. Strawberries have the least amount of fiber of these four berries. You can get a three berry blend from both Trader Joe’s and Costco!

Start your day with this fiber-rich smoothie and you’ll already meet about 40% of your daily fiber needs! And if you’re looking for more high fiber recipes for breakfast, check out my oatmeal breakfast cookies and high fiber muesli recipe.

Put all the smoothie ingredients in a blender. I’ve used both my Vitamix and my NutriBullet. Both work fine, but since this is a single-serving smoothie recipe, I usually opt for my NutriBullet.
