A loaded veggie taco salad (or taco pasta salad) is one of my favorite quick & healthy lunches to make when I’m working from home.
Since I make them so often, I realized I needed a healthy taco salad dressing recipe to pair with it!
As a Registered Dietitian, I love to use plain Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise or sour cream when making creamy salad dressings.
Greek yogurt has lots of nutrition benefits – it’s a great source of high quality protein, calcium, and probiotics.
This creamy taco salad dressing is incredibly easy to make. Just add a handful of ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth!

Ingredients in creamy taco salad dressing
You need just six ingredients to make this recipe:
- Plain Greek yogurt – I recommend full fat or 2% fat Greek yogurt for a richer, more satisfying dressing
- Jarred salsa – mild, medium, or spicy based on how much heat you like
- Lime juice
- Chili powder – homemade chili powder packs an especially big flavor punch
- Garlic powder
- Salt
Kitchen tools needed
You need a blender (a small blender works fine) to make this creamy salad dressing. Alternatively, you can try making this dressing in a food processor.
How to make taco salad dressing
This recipe couldn’t be easier to make! Add Greek yogurt, salsa, lime juice, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt to a small blender.
Blend until smooth and creamy with no lumps remaining. You may need to scrape down the sides of your blender once or twice in the process.
Storage
Keep this homemade salad dressing in a small jar or airtight container for 3-5 days. If any separation happens with storage, just give the dressing a stir before using.

- Juice of half a lime
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp chili powder

Instructions
- Add the ingredients to a blender.
- Blend until smooth and creamy with no lumps remaining. You may need to scrape down the sides of the blender with a rubber spatula once or twice.

Hi Lupe! Sorry to hear the texture didn’t come out as you wanted. This dressing is fairly creamy when I made it at home. Perhaps try using a different type of salsa if you make it again. I used a chunkier salsa when I made it!
