Is feta cheese healthy?

Feta cheese can certainly be a part of a well-balanced, nutritious diet when enjoyed in moderation. Feta cheese provides protein and other nutrients. One ounce of feta cheese has:

  • 4 grams of protein
  • 140 mg calcium (11 percent of your daily needs)
  • 0.239 mg riboflavin (18 percent of your daily needs)
  • 0.48 mcg Vitamin B12 (20 percent of your daily needs)

Because of its protein, calcium, and Vitamin B12 content, adding feta cheese to your diet can be particularly beneficial if you follow a plant-based diet. It’s important to note that feta cheese is high in sodium and saturated fat, so enjoy 1-2 ounces at a time as to not go overboard with these nutrients.
