You don’t need to spend a fortune on kitchen accessories that will make cooking easier and more fun. Here are 5 of my favorite kitchen gadgets under $20.
If you love to cook, or if you’re just getting started, a well-stocked kitchen is essential. You need the proper tools, accessories, and appliances to be an effective cook.
While there are basic kitchen accessories you need at the bare minimum, there are also several items that just make cooking and storing foods easier and more fun. After owning these 5 gadgets myself, I honestly don’t know what I would do without them! I use each of these tools multiple times a week, if not daily.
My favorite affordable kitchen accessories
Lemon and lime juicer and reamer
This handy little citrus juicer is a game changer. It quickly squeezes every drop out of lemons and limes (while keeping seeds away) for fresh juice in a snap. It includes measurements written out on the juice container, which is perfect for recipes.
I’ve had mine for years and I can’t even count how many times I’ve used it. I use when making citrus salad dressings, guacamole, and so much more.
Zester and grater
This zester and grater has allowed me to elevate my cooking so much. It finely zests and grates food, which adds delicate and zippy flavor to tons of recipes. Here are some ways we use this gadget:
Add lemon or lime zest to baked goods and desserts
Grate garlic and ginger for sauces, which elevates the flavor even more than mincing these ingredients
Grate carrots super finely for the lightest carrot cake ever
I promise you won’t regret spending the $15 for this tool!
Salad Dressing Shaker
Sure, you can just use a jar to shake and store salad dressing. But this salad dressing shaker is the real deal. It has measurements in cups, milliliters, and ounces written on the side for seamless measuring. The pouring spout doesn’t leave any drips, and the cap seaps completely shut.
I use this salad dressing shaker every week to make a batch of dressing for salads. I love that you just need one container to make it and store it!
Using these food grade silicone storage bags instead of plastic baggies makes sustainable living attainable and simple. You can use Stasher bags to store cooked food, raw food, dry goods, and even non-food items! We have about 10 in different sizes that I’ve collected over the last few years.
Stasher bags are incredibly high quality and really hold up through endless uses and washes. You can wash them by hand or even pop them in the dishwasher.
My mom gave me this as a gag gift, but I actually love it and think it’s so practical! More often than not, I eat half an avocado at a time, and this avocado keeper stores the other half easily and waste free. I’ve had it for 4 or 5 years, and has replaced the need for countless pieces of plastic wrap or baggies.
This product is definitely the most niche on this list. But if you frequently eat avocados, I think you’ll love this one.
