Is frozen yogurt healthy?

Frozen yogurt is made with milk instead of cream, so it’s lower in calories than ice cream. Some frozen yogurts also contain probiotics, which are beneficial for gut health and digestion.

However, store bought frozen yogurt is usually high in added sugars, preservatives, and additives for flavor, color, and texture.

Ingredients in frozen Greek yogurt

You need just 3 ingredients to make Greek frozen yogurt at home:

  • Plain Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt is higher in protein and lower in carbohydrates than regular yogurt. It has a thick, creamy texture that is perfect for frozen yogurt. I recommend using full fat, whole milk Greek yogurt for frozen yogurt with a rich mouthfeel.
  • Honey: Honey and Greek yogurt taste amazing together. It sweetens the Greek yogurt in this recipe just enough that it’s not cloyingly sweet.
  • Vanilla extract: Opt for pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.

Can I make frozen Greek yogurt in advance?

Yes! You can make this frozen yogurt a day or two in advance.

However, it will become VERY hard and a little icy if you don’t enjoy it shortly after preparing it.

You’ll need to let it soften up at room temperature for 20-30 minutes if you do prepare it in advance.
